Event Description

But Seriously…talking about Humor in Craft is no joke.

“What happens when professional craft artists are allowed to let loose, when they get to explore their mischievous and irreverent sides? Find out in this groundbreaking book, which, for the very first time, reveals an entirely different side of serious craft.”  — Humor in Craft

Join curator, crafthaus creator, and Humor in Craft author, Brigitte Martin, as she discusses her new book and signs copies.

Two of the book’s featured artists, ceramist Jason Kishell and metalsmith Nathan Dube, will also join the discussion.  As former and current resident artists at HCCC, their work shows the culmination of intention and craftsmanship. Their humor is not of the “Three Stooges” ilk, but rather the dry and pointed wit of Steve Martin or Christopher Buckley. From Jason’s iconic Smug Mug (featured on the book cover) to Nathan’s playfully serious toys, there is clearly something in the water at HCCC.

Artist talks begin at 11:00 AM, with the book signing to follow.  Asher Gallery will be stocked with copies of Humor in Craft for your easy purchase!  Refreshments will be served.
