Cloisonné Enameling with James Carter

April 18-22, 2011 from 9 am - 5 pm $950 + $65 kit

Cloisonné enameling is one of the most beautiful and expressive techniques available to jewelers. Learn classical techniques from a nationally recognized artist/jeweler. Learn to shape and apply intricate ribbons of wire to a base, creating cells to hold enamel. Learn to prepare enamel and apply it in multiple layers of color; fire and refine your work; and polish the surface in preparation for setting into jewelry. Participants at all levels leave with several sample projects plus a wealth of information and tons of shortcuts. .

Prerequisite: Fabrication 1 or experience.

James Carter will also teach Metalsmithing for Enamels, April 16-17, 2011.
