SCC welcomes Dauvit Alexander, SCC Store & visiting artist from Glasgow, Scotland.
Dauvit Alexander works extensively with manufactured and found boxes to produce jewelry that is both playful and meaningful. In this workshop, intermediate-level jewelry makers will use press forming, scoring, folding and other techniques to fashion lockets, box rings and small boxes. The instructor’s student-centered teaching style will foster skills that allow each maker to create closed box forms, which conceal treasures and hidden surprises. The design and fabrication of hinges, catches and clasps for boxes, as well as ways of using boxes to make fascinating, mysterious and humorous jewelry, will also be covered.
