Discover the ancient art of flameworking while creating beads from hot glass. Using Hot Head torches, a portable and inexpensive torch, this workshop focuses on creating simple but eye-catching shapes with beads, moving beyond the basic round bead to create tubular, square, asymmetrical, torpedo, disc, and other multi-shape beads. We’ll also explore changes in shape and texture with different marvers, creating grooves and indentations. Darlene created a collaborative piece with fellow SCC artist Donna Penoyer, which was part of an international exhibition on tour for over a year, including Japan. New and returning students are welcome, and can expect to create four to ten glass beads.
