Learn to create surface textures, which are made by heating, rolling, hammering, abrading and more. Explore the in’s and out’s of creative surfaces to add depth and character to your work. Experiment and develop a series of sample texture “flash cards,” each accompanied by detailed notes about how the surface was produced, for future applications. There’s more to surface than meets the eye. In fact, next to form, surface is what most defines an object. Discussion includes how and when applying surface textures during the construction of a piece. Bring a sharp pencil, as there are sure to be lots of tips and tricks. Prerequisite: Fabrication 1 or experience.
Andy Cooperman will also teach Imaginative Captures, April 9-13, 2012.
