In preparation for my departure for Touchstone this afternoon, I spent yesterday sketching and skimming the Internet for visual influences of steel jewelry. During my digital travels, I discovered a variety of artists whose steel-based work was highly intriguing for its architectonic and geometric wire roots. I have chosen a selection of artists to share and hope that you find their work as inspirational as myself. Please enjoy!

Sarah Loertscher: A runway jewelry artist working in geometric steel wire forms. As a lover of the opulence and ritual of the runway, I adore her work with its bold statements combined with the body carriage of the models. All her work is beautiful, but take especial care to check out her bridal collection! http://www.sarahloertscher.com/

Goncalo Campos: Utilizes 3D printing technology to created printed steel jewelry. From the little I know about 3D printing, I was definitely surprised to learn you could print directly into steel! http://design-milk.com/jewelry-by-goncalo-campos/

ProjektMosko: Geometric stainless steel necklaces and other jewelry works. They have a shop on Etsy.

Haruko Sugawara: I am especially drawn to Japanese jeweler Sugawara’s “Basket Collection”. Using fibers techniques such as knitting, weaving, and crocheting, Sugawara combines stainless steel and gold into ethereal jewelry structures. Amazing! (The photo here is her representation of soap bubbles). http://harukosugawara.com/collection/basketwork.html

Caitie Sellers: Absolutely inspirational and beautiful work in steel wire inspired by architecture. The silhouettes of man-made structures she recreates in jewelry are bold and invite exploration. Her pieces cause the viewer to imagine the entire environment depicted by the glimpses she provides. I thought I had a deep love of architectural forms before, but there is definitely no going back after seeing Seller’s work. I can properly say I’m addicted to her necklaces and brooches in particular! http://www.caitiesellers.com/jewelry.html
