The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

We are looking for a few more volunteers to help on the ACJ stand at the Goldsmiths' Hall for the Make Your Mark event, organised by the Assay Office London. In particular for Tuesday 31 October (but offers for the 1 Nov would also be gratefully received!).

This is aimed at students on precious metal courses across the UK.

We need people to staff our stall and tell visitors about ACJ and the benefits of being a member.

If you could spare a few hours it would really help.

On Tuesday 31st October,  the event is open 10.30am to 5.30pm.

On Wednesday 1st November, the event will open at 10.00 am and finishes at 4.00pm.

If you are able to help, please email me at enquiries@acj.org.uk

THANK YOU!

upcoming application deadline for our free business taster programme; Getting Started, which runs from Monday 8 to Friday 12 January 2018. Getting Started is open to recent graduates (completed in the past 5 years) from a UK certified precious metalwork or related course and is supported by the Goldsmiths’ Company. The week is made up of over 20 interactive sessions, lectures and inspirational talks focussing on the skills required to set up in a creative business. Every workshop is designed to help attendees to get to grips with the practicalities of setting up in business. We are now seeking new talent who have real potential to succeed and who will benefit from learning about topics such as developing their social media presence, understanding pricing and the art of networking. As part of the week, leading industry experts will give graduates the benefits of their experience with past speakers including Stephen Webster, Nan Nan Liu, Leo deVroomen, Liz Olver and Tomasz Donocik. This year successful applicants will also have the unique opportunity to showcase their work at the Goldsmiths’ Centre from November to early January as part of the Shine 2017 selling showcase as well as meeting other new graduates, business experts and industry members at an exclusive industry reception. If you know a student would like to apply for a place on Getting Started, please ask them to do this before Friday 6 October 2017.
