The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

Price Adjustment 2019
The Goldsmiths’ Company Assay Office is committed to providing a premium quality hallmark and a premium quality service to match.
A customer survey in 2017 highlighted two areas you recommended that we should explore: a guaranteed turnaround time and expansion of online services. We delivered in both areas in 2018.
Further analysis has shown that when paper hallnotes are used, only 3% of them are completed correctly. This has meant that considerable resource is required to clarify the details. With this in mind, we want to encourage our customers to use online hallnote completion as much as possible. The savings made will allow us to maintain current prices for standard hallmarking services in the forthcoming year. Without online hallnote completion, we will have to raise our prices.

The support of local communities must be central to any plans to stimulate growth through culture, according to a Local Government Association report examining how culture-led regeneration can achieve sustainable growth.

New research from Creative People and Places (CPP) calls for a national strategy for developing artists’ socially engaged practice. CPP provides investment in parts of the country where engagement with the arts is lower than the national average to support the public in shaping local arts and cultural provision.

A new project is to explore how culture is funded and how people take part in cultural activity in towns across England is to examine the distribution of cultural infrastructure.

New: Dip Dye Bangles by Sarah Packington.

Beautiful bangles in ice clear glossy acrylic melting into bright translucent colour. These new bangles are by Brighton based jeweller Sarah Packington. The clear acrylic is hand polished to a high shine, then dip dyed into a selection of bright colours.

Jewellery design and making at the scrap Co-op
We are a group of jewellery designers, artists and illustrators recently graduated from Central St Martins looking to share our skills with refugees and displaced people currently residing in Athens.

We will use the funds from our campaign to purchase jewellery making and designing materials, in Athens, that we will use in 2-3 day short courses. The tools will be left at the scrap coop, the non-profit workshop space where we will be hosting the short courses for use in future courses and in future projects.
