The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

20th Anniversary Archive Project:
Internship Opportunity for PhD Student
In 2020, Cove Park marks its 20th anniversary. A year-long programme is being planned to celebrate this milestone and look forward to the next 20 years, with fellowships, residency exchanges, commissions and events. Ahead of this, we would like to draw together the various strands of our history through an archive project. Further information is available here.
Cove Park is delighted to be one of a number of organisations participating in the Scottish Graduate School for Arts & Humanities internship scheme. SGSAH organises internships for PhD researchers to spend up to three months at a partner host organisation, enabling them to enhance their research skills in a wide variety of contexts. SGSAH will pay interns the equivalent of an UKRI stipend rate for the duration of the internship and can help with travel and accommodation costs. The programme is open to arts and humanities PhD students in Scotland, regardless of funding source (please see the SGSAH website for eligibility criteria).
Please apply via the SGSAH website here. The deadline for applications is Monday 16th September 2019.

Making Space is delighted to be hosting a new Maker Development event. GUILDED CONVERSATIONS is an opportunity to come together in a relaxed format to explore the purpose and function of maker collectives, such as craft guilds, associations and studio groups. The event will ask what role they have to play in the contemporary craft infrastructure. Surviving successfully in a climate where craft is under valued and under represented is challenging and a key element is how designer/makers organise themselves and connect with each other and the wider public.

The discussion will be held at Winchester School of Art on Thursday 19 September 2019. We will talk about how these different communities relate to each other and how they can collectively contribute to the contemporary craft infrastructure in the region. We hope to connect individual makers and groups to enable their voices to be amplified and heard. Ideas will be explored and questions raised through facilitated small group discussions. If time permits, there will be a chance to ask your own questions through a panel discussion and Q&A session at the end.

Guilded Conversations is a Making Space initiative in association with Arts Council England, Hampshire County Council and Winchester School of Art.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly-motivated self-starter to join our team as our Professional Development Coordinator here at the Goldsmiths' Centre in London.

Ideal for someone communicative and creative, this role will be responsible for developing and running our growing technical and business course programme.

This individual should have:
At least three years of experience working in an art/design related field,
Demonstrable experience of programming courses, events and/or running projects
Most importantly, should be a creative individual; someone who enjoys working as part of a team and has exciting, inspiring ideas that they are ready to see through to delivery and evaluation.

https://mailchi.mp/7f2d99127ecf/surrey-hills-spring-newsletter-1497... A new fundraising campaign has been launched to restore a lost viewpoint in the Surrey Hills
Just a short walk from Newlands Corner, on the North Downs Way National Trail, the trees and undergrowth have grown up significantly, closing off views across the Weald to the South Downs. We want to re-create and maintain these views, enhance the habitat for insect and butterfly populations to flourish and install a sculptural seat.
