The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

Pledge your support

Our vision is that every child has a chance to discover their practical abilities, develop their creative talents, and become a maker of the future. This vision is rooted in the knowledge that craft skills lead to diverse careers and creative satisfaction throughout life.

Recent governments have failed to change its education policy to make craft and other creative subjects a vital part of the curriculum. So, we are asking the craft community, leading figures from the creative industries and the craft-loving public to take matters into their own hands and pledge a commitment to give young people an introduction to craft.

We need you to pledge your support for craft education using the form below and on social media using #makeyourfuture. It can be big or small— from setting up a Craft Club at your school to offering a day’s work experience in your studio. By doing just a little bit extra, we can build a movement to support the makers of the future.

The Gem Empathy Award is now open for entries.

The long-standing Gem Empathy Award – organised by Gem-A (Gemmological Association of Great Britain) and hosted by IJL – gives exhibitors and, for the first time, visitors at International Jewellery London (IJL) a chance to win a precious and sustainable coral cabochon to bring their unique and inspiring jewellery design to life.

All those who enter the competition, whether an established brand or emerging designer, will have the opportunity to receive the stone, an article in Gems&Jewellery magazine and a voucher to put towards the construction of the piece.

20th Anniversary Archive Project:
Internship Opportunity for PhD Student
In 2020, Cove Park marks its 20th anniversary. A year-long programme is being planned to celebrate this milestone and look forward to the next 20 years, with fellowships, residency exchanges, commissions and events. Ahead of this, we would like to draw together the various strands of our history through an archive project. Further information is available here.
Cove Park is delighted to be one of a number of organisations participating in the Scottish Graduate School for Arts & Humanities internship scheme. SGSAH organises internships for PhD researchers to spend up to three months at a partner host organisation, enabling them to enhance their research skills in a wide variety of contexts. SGSAH will pay interns the equivalent of an UKRI stipend rate for the duration of the internship and can help with travel and accommodation costs. The programme is open to arts and humanities PhD students in Scotland, regardless of funding source (please see the SGSAH website for eligibility criteria).
Please apply via the SGSAH website here. The deadline for applications is Monday 16th September 2019.
