Want to inspire Portland? It's not too late to become a presenter at the May 17th PechaKucha Night at SPACE Gallery. Deadline to submit is April 30th.

PechaKucha Nights are informal and fun gatherings for creative people to share their ideas, work and thoughts — often with wildly diverse subjects from umbrella covers to cell phone photography. The catch? Stories are told using a rapid pace presentation format of 20 images × 20 seconds.

Send a 3 slide teaser of your presentation to: PechaKuchaPortland@gmail.com with "I'd like to present at PechaKucha Portland" in the subject line.

What will you show? What will you tell?

I am writing on behalf of craft&design magazine and NIACE to invite a representative from your organisation to attend the official launch of a new Craft Toolkit at 9.30am on Friday 11th May at Hatfield House in Hertfordshire, on the eve of Adult Learners' Week.
This has been developed as part of the government's, and in particular Skills Minister John Hayes,' craft initiative.
The toolkit is an online resource for those who have a passion for craft and want to know how to earn a living from it.  It features a wealth of valuable information for those within the industry collected from those already working in it.
The location for the launch has been carefully selected as it plays host to one of Europe's longest running and most prestigious craft events, Living Crafts, from 10th through to 13th May; hence the show will be underway on the day of the launch and offers a super opportunity to see first hand the high standard of British craftsmanship.
Following the launch, guests will receive a complimentary ticket to visit the show and perhaps try one of the many activities on offer.
In addition there will be literally hundreds of designer makers selling or demonstrating their craft, many of whom have spent their lives working as craftsmen and women.  By contrast craft&design magazine sponsors the 'emerging designers' pavilion which features a fine array of craft from some of the newest designer makers working today.
I do hope you will be able to join us.
With very best wishes,
Jan Lasnon
