The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

The sixth annual Wooda Arts Award gives a contemporary artist the opportunity of a six-week residency in an architect-designed studio in North Cornwall. The award is open to solo and collaborative artists working in any medium who have a strong commitment to experimentation

The bursary is for £1,800 with a small allowance for UK travel and materials, as well as two-bedroomed cottage accommodation and use of the studio for six weeks from 4th February – 18th March 2012 (possibility of 1 week leeway either side.) In exchange, we require a donation of one or two works to the Wooda Arts archive and a documented report on the residency process and its outcomes.

The closing date for applications is 14th October 2011.

Any applications received after that date will not be considered.

A shortlist of up to five candidates will be invited to interview at Wooda on 27th/28th October 2011. Travel expenses from within the UK will be paid.
