Henry and I have been busy today installing the BAMS Student Medal show at the Goldsmiths’ Centre today. Some photos are attached. The show runs from now until 16th May and is open Monday –Friday 9am – 5pm at The Goldsmiths’ Centre, 42 Britton Street, London, EC1M 5AD.

WEEKLY NEWS Hi Rebecca WebCast We are planning our very first WebCast later this month on Saturday 20th April at 3PM BST. We had loads of request for topics for Andrew to demonstrate showing you techniques 'live' via webcam which should keep him busy for a couple of years. You will have the opportunity to ask him questions in real time or you can email the team in advance with your questions. The first WebCast is going to be all about the technique of soldering. It was the most asked for topic of discussion and with so many problems that can go wrong, you will get Andrew showing you exactly what to do and how to do it. We still want your questions so why not email the team with your questions you have on soldering. Is there a particular area you are having trouble with? Do you have problems soldering thin wire to large sheet? Finding that the solder melts easily whilst the piece does not get up to heat? In fact, any questions you have on soldering, please email Devhan and hopefully Andrew will be able to answer them. We will also be recording the WebCast which will be available on At The Bench a few days after the broadcast. So Click here to email Devhan with your questions. We have 30 FREE tickets to give away to the Craftboston Spring Show April 19-21 to distribute to SNAG members. Each ticket is good for the entire weekend. Sooper Sweet with Re-Ink-Our-Nation
16 March – 13 April 2013

Soopersweet is a showcase event featuring the work of some of Ireland's best known street artists and illustrators. The exhibition will prove just why 'outsider' art is currently the most populist art form in the world. Yarn bombing, aerosol art, painting and stencilling all feature whilst artists including Verz, DMC and Matthew knight will be running a series of 'hands on' mural workshops with various community groups from the Lisburn area. The launch event for the exhibition at the gallery will be a free, interactive experience
Re-Ink-Our-Nation is a local community arts organisation which aims to help individuals and communities to transform themselves through the arts. They have worked closely with many statutory agencies on the delivery of large-scale arts projects in local communities, with a particular focus on tackling serious issues through the arts, and the creation of community-led public art installations. Re-Ink-Our-Nation have been a key facilitator of the Re-Imaging Communities programme.

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: 2013 ART JEWELRY FORUM ARTIST AWARD

Details on Top American Prize for an Emerging Art Jeweler Released

Mill Valley, California, USA--Art Jewelry Form (AJF) is accepting applications for the 2013 Art Jewelry Forum Artist Award for an emerging jewelry artist. This is the 14th year the organization is awarding a cash prize to a contemporary artist. The amount of the 2013 award is $7500. The purpose of the Art Jewelry Forum Artist Award for an emerging jeweler is to acknowledge promise, innovation, and individuality in a jeweler's work and to help advance his or her career.

Jurors selecting this year's prizewinner are: 2012 Art Jewelry Forum Artist Award winner Noon Passama; Lindsay Pollack, Editor in Chief of Art in America and a collector of art jewelry; and Ruudt Peters, illustrious vanguard jeweler and professor at Alchimia Contemporary Jewellery School, Florence, Italy.



The Art Jewelry Forum Artist Award competition is open to makers of wearable art jewelry who have completed their academic or professional training at least one year but not more than six years prior to the submission date of the AJF Award application. Applicants must not have had a solo exhibition at a commercial gallery or a museum or have one scheduled. All artwork submitted must have been unsupervised; work from BFA or MFA shows may NOT be submitted.

Award Schedule

* April 1, 2013 Applications may be submitted at www.callforentry.org.
* June 30, 2013 Deadline for application entry.
* September 2013 The winner of this year's competition and $7500 cash award is announced.
