The Association for Contemporary Jewellery
is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.
Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.
We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

Welcome to Handmade Edinburgh, the first ever Handmade in Britain fair in Scotland!Handmade Edinburgh is the newest addition to a portfolio of successful events organised by Handmade in Britain, the organisers behind the highly acclaimed Chelsea craft fair and Handmade at Kew. Launching for the first time this year, this event is set to become the leading showcase for contemporary craft in Scotland. You don’t have to live in Scotland or be Scottish to take part in the event, though we would like to encourage applications from makers in Scotland.The first edition of Handmade Edinburgh will take place at The Hub from Friday 28th to Sunday 30th October 2016 (Private View evening on Thursday 27th October 2016). This three day selling event is highly consumer orientated and offers visitors the opportunity to meet the makers and view, buy or commission their perfect piece and take it home with them.Handmade Edinburgh sets very high standards, representing the finest designer makers and artists from Scotland and beyond. Selected by an experienced team, Handmade Edinburgh is open to makers & designers resident in the UK working to the highest level in ceramics, glass, textiles, jewellery, metal, wood, stone, mixed media, leather, furniture, paper, prints, fashion and sculpture.Stands cost from £400+VAT and include traditional wooden shell schemes, two spotlights and name board. The application process is simple and involves submission of some details about yourself via an online application form plus 4 images of your work. Who we are:
Amongst many things, Posh Totty Designs is the original pioneer of hand stamped jewellery. We design & make precious keepsakes that immortalise personal sentiments in a stylish, yet unique way. From a one-woman kitchen-table business just 12 years ago, we’re now proud to run the biggest professional jewellery-making workshop in the South East. Our workshop caters for up to 18 skilled jewellers at any one time, and at peak times we can find ourselves producing up to 500 orders a day. Our presence locally and online is prominent and ever growing- we’re a multi-channel retailer stocking not only our own beautiful boutiques and website, but also some of the biggest marketplaces & department stores online.
We’re a fun, vibrant, young (hearted) and eagerly creative team that are passionate about what we do. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive work place where everyone has a voice, and everyone’s ideas are heard.
Where we’re going:
On the horizon this year is a London based boutique, a jewellery parties project, A celebrity collaboration and a local make & meet venue. There’s no such thing as a ‘quiet period’ at PTD.
What we need from you:
Our workshop is the lifeblood of our business and as such we need you to run a tight ship whilst inspiring, teaching and motivating your incredible team of 14 jewellers. With your professional creative background we want you to be ahead of your game in terms of the latest and forecasted trends, always with one eye on the commercial jewellery world, you’ll be the go-to person for developing ideas. Our products are diverse and unique so we naturally fall victim to copy-cats, with this in mind, continued innovation and exciting new seasonal designs are vital. Your role will be very varied and no one day will be the same, excellent time management and delegation is therefore crucial to your role. We’re always learning and evolving so any improved methods or processes you can bring to the table, even better.

"This years Open Studios weekend is packed full of exciting things:In addition to the fantastic tenants who will be opening up their studios over the weekend and showing you their creative spaces, we will also have one of our Associate Makers setting up on site to show you her beautiful textile pieces. Kathryn Green has become one of Making Space’s semi-tenants, as she hires our ceramic studio to develop and produce work on a weekly basis.Alice Hume will also be here on site over the weekend showcasing her work and advertising her upcoming workshop at Making Space.There will also be a display from Alex Hoare who will be running a two part glass course with us in July! In 1997 when Art Jewelry Forum was founded, we rarely looked at emails or websites. They were a novelty, but the artistic practice of jewelry that emerged from academia and from a certain set of ethics and values defined by an alternative culture had been around for 30 years. Fifty years later, these ethics and values have remained the same but the value and visibility of art jewelry has increased many times. It has taken a village of passionate people (artists, gallerists, collectors, curators, researchers and writers) to challenge the obvious assumptions of the traditional jewelry world about what jewelry means, what it represents, and how it is valued. Looking behind assumptions and writing about the unexamined decorative and status-seeking aspects of jewelry has been the way that art jewelry has developed visibility in the culture at large.

The exhibition showcases significant jewellers held in the Crafts Council Collection, eg Wendy Ramshaw, Caroline Broadhead, David Watkins and David Poston, loans from key national and international lenders, including MIMA and Galerie Marzee, new commissions, and voices and views from a range of individuals from across the sector.
