The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

http://www.manifestgallery.org/synesthetica/

Manifest is, by definition, an organization and gallery focused on the visual arts. However, we do not miss the fact that the visual represents only one-fifth of the commonly understood five human sensory faculties. We also recognize that some often very engaging and compelling artworks are, despite their primarily visual aspects, also reliant upon one or more of the other four senses in order to be successfully experienced and understood. So we have offered this call for works which do this, and will devote an entire exhibition to presenting and exploring the concept.

AFTER REVIEWING THE FULL PROSPECTUS BELOW, FIND THE REQUIRED ENTRY FORM
HERE.

SUBMISSION AND EXHIBITION
AGREEMENT TERMS

ELIGIBILITY
SYNESTHETICA is open to anyone. Professionals as well as students are encouraged to enter. The only limitation is that entries must represent original works of art that address the stated theme. There is no size restriction, other than what can fit through our doors or hang on our walls. (Gallery floor plan). If in doubt about very large works fitting the gallery, contact us to inquire. There is no date restriction.

MEDIA
Open to all traditional and non-traditional genre and media (2D, 3D, etc.). Manifest's carefully assembled juries change from project to project, and have no collective predisposition towards any particular media, kind, or style of art.

Next Date: Tuesday 15 December from 1-3pm.
At Making Space, 2 Bishopstoke Rd, Leigh Park, Havant, Hants, PO9 5BN

December Networking Lunch to include a special talk from artist and maker Naty Lopez-Holguin about her work and recent exhibition.

Making Space organises a Makers Networking Lunch six times a year. These bi-monthly lunches provide local creative artists and makers an opportunity to meet other makers in the area, seek advice, chat through ideas, share knowledge and just get out of the studio for an afternoon.

The networking lunches are free to attend and there is no need to book a place, just turn up and bring a dish to share. Making Space will provide tea, coffee and other soft drinks.

Material Xperience, the annual materials event for architects and other creative professionals, will take place from Wednesday, January 27th to Friday, January 29th, 2016. The theme of this upcoming edition will be ‘The Future is Here.’
‘The Future is Here’ will be presented in three themes: New Techniques, New Materials and New Energy Sources. These themes will cover the latest developments in the world of materials with topics ranging from 3D printing to the circular economy, low-energy materials to the latest innovations from the fields of energy generation and conservation.

Segments
Our partners will be showing their innovations within the four segments of Floors, Roofs & Facades, Walls & Ceilings, and a special new segment showcasing providers of digital technologies, such as 3D printers. Also new this year is the category ‘New Kids on the Block,’ an initiative supported by Materia to give small, smart up businesses the opportunity to come in contact with architects and designers. The theme ‘The Future is Here’ runs like a thread through these different segments as well as in the form of an independent Materia exhibition.

What will you see?
The accompanying speaker program, which is famous for its influential and leading speakers, will once again focus on the themes of innovation, inspiration and, of course, The Future!
In addition, this edition of Material Xperience will take place simultaneously with GEVEL 2016: Facades with 20/20 Vision.

We look forward to your visit!
