The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

The 2018 AJF Artist Award deadline is on November 15, 2017. You may wonder, what does it take to win a cash prize of $7500? Take a look at 2014 winner Seulgi Kwon's winning pieces, along with the four fantastic finalists: Heejoo Kim, Benedikt Fischer, Attai Chen, and Lauren Kalman.

Our jury panel--which always includes an artist, a curator and a collector--are faced with tough choices each award cycle. Make sure your work is included for them to consider.

Find inspiration in the interviews below and apply. https://artjewelryforum.org/2018-ajf-artist-award-guidelines?utm_so...

Dazzle the world famous curated selling jewellery exhibition returns to London for the 36th year, showing the work of 80 contemporary jewellers, handmade leather bags and scarves and unique wall art.

Dazzle jewellery exhibitions started in 1981 at the Manchester Royal Exchange Theatre and the National Theatre in London. In that time they have become one of the biggest influences in contemporary jewellery showing many hundreds of top designers from all over the world and attracting the attention of major collectors, museums and art galleries and general public alike.

This November, Dazzle returns with an exciting exhibition showcasing the most innovative and interesting new designers alongside a host of old favourites. Dazzle offers the opportunity to view and buy special work that is very difficult to locate and often impossible to find elsewhere.

For more information please visit their website. Please note Dazzle is open Monday – Saturday 10am – 7pm & Sunday 11am – 6pm. http://www.dazzle-exhibitions.co.uk/

European Triennial for Contemporary Jewellery

October 28, 2017-February 4, 2018
Mons, Belgium

EXHIBITION
The current hybridization of art disciplines doesn't exempt the field of jewelry anymore. The fundamental gap between the accessory and the piece of art has gradually expanded over the last few years. Being transdisciplinary, almost unruly, contemporary jewelers now play a daring card.

Far beyond its materiality, contemporary jewelry questions its era. As a living art, the contemporary jewel has got performance objectives. A mediator between one's own and the foreign, it works in concert with other mediums, and exceeds aesthetic, technical, and discursive barriers in order to reflect on our existence through our bodies, which are essential chain links.

Along with Munich, Paris, Barcelona, etc., WCC-BF keeps the outreach of this artistic discipline going in 2017 thanks to the sixth edition of the European Triennial for Contemporary Jewellery. For this edition, Sweden and France, along with Belgium, inaugurate the Grand Halle des Anciens Abattoirs with multiple variations of the contemporary jewel.

Wonders of Wood
Materia will be present for the first time at HoutPro+ from 31 October to 3 November with the traveling exhibition Material Xperience On Tour, this time with the theme "Wonders of Wood".
Materia will exhibit some 120 materials at HoutPro+. Every material is carefully selected by experts from the Materia network for the HoutPro+ trade fair. Materia’s exhibition is divided into four segments that reflect the current trends of wood. We pay attention the new performances of wood, the combination possibilities, its workability, and wood lookalikes.

From November 5, 2017 to January 28, 2018 CODA Museum presents a retrospective of the works of visual artist and jewelry designer Ruudt Peters in the exhibition BRON (Source). BRON gives an overview of Peters’ rebellious jewelry from the early seventies to the more profound works based on the exploration of other cultures, customs, and habits from a more recent period. His work is exhibited in a special multimedia installation that offers a unique view on his work.
