is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.
Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.
We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

Call for Entries: ACJ 2016 Members' Show at New Ashgate Gallery, Farnham
By popular request, this year’s exhibition is an un-themed selling show of new work. Entry is open to all members, both from the UK and overseas.
A maximum of 40 ACJ members will each show a small collection of pieces at the well-respected New Ashgate Gallery in Farnham, Surrey, near the University of Creative Arts.
Dates: Deadline for applications 30th June Delivery of work: 1st September
Show open 16th September to 5th November
Costs: no application fee. Participants will pay £40, which includes return postage. Commission: 50% of retail price goes to the Gallery, so the maker’s price is doubled.
Pricing: retail prices from £30 to about £1,000, with a good selection of the lower price points.
The work: a coherent collection of up to 10 pieces made within the last two years.
This year there will be no print catalogue, but an online catalogue will be published on our website from members’ own photos.

Jewellery Unlimited Professional Development Award
There is an exciting opportunity for an ACJ group or ACJ member to apply for a Jewellery Unlimited Award.
This award is to assist an individual or group to enable them to undertake a form of professional development. Groups should be all ACJ members. The benefits include publishing your report or video on the event/activity/course in one or more of the following: the ACJ website, the e-newsletter, Findings magazine, at a symposium or conference.
Thanks to the Bristol ACJ group and their Jewellery Unlimited exhibition for their kind donation of funds to make this opportunity available. The award is open to individuals or groups, and the board hopes that the award will benefit as wide an audience as possible.

A Jewel Made in Greece
Our exhibition 'A Jewel From Greece' is now on and looking fabulous! The work is a striking collection of contemporary design that combines traditional and modern skills.
This is a great chance to celebrate the ancient holiday of May Day which in Greece marks the beginning of Spring. Come along and enjoy this wonderfully diverse range of jewellery by 16 Greek makers, on until 4 June.

British Craft Pavilion
The British Craft Pavilion is a new showcase presented by the Crafts Council and London Design Fair at Tent & Super Brands London from 22-25 September 2016.
The pavilion will place British craft in the spotlight at this year's London Design Festival whilst connecting makers with the 25,000 visitors. We're looking for 25 individual makers to take part.

COLLECT: The International Art Fair for Contemporary Objects, presented by the Crafts Council, is returning to the Saatchi Gallery from 3 to 6 February 2017.
Collect Open offers an unique opportunity to individual artists or collaborations to exhibit alongside international galleries showing the very best contemporary craft from around the world.
Collect Open has been a rich addition to the fair since 2011 and encourages artists to show work which challenges traditional perceptions of craft and design.
We are looking for exciting proposals to show new ambitious works by individuals or collaborations. This is a unique opportunity to present the unexpected to an influential and high-profile audience.
We are interested in receiving proposals to present large scale, conceptual, installation based work.
Criteria for the brief:
Note: Collect Open is principally for contemporary design and applied arts, therefore applications will not be accepted for painting, drawing, graphic design, print-making, photography or fine art sculpture.

Recent parliamentary debates on apprenticeships and on intellectual property, plus the forthcoming debate on creative subjects and the Ebacc
Plus a report on the economics of touring exhibitions, live surveys on private philanthropy in arts and culture and on entrepreneurs and start-ups in the EU and the Crafts Council’s responses to the Countries of Culture inquiry and the DCMS consultation on its economic estimates approach
