The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

Dear Maker

We have recently had two cancellations (2m and 3m spaces) for our next Desire Fair being held in Winchester from 15-17 November. If you are interested in one of these spaces please get in touch ASAP.

As well as makers creating precious jewellery we would be particularly keen to hear of any jewellers working with non-precious materials to give a good balance to the event. If you are a jeweller working with leather, textiles, paper, glass, plastic, wood, or any other mixed media we'd love to hear from you as the press are keen to hear about mixed media jewellery and we will hope to raise your profile with this potential extra coverage! Please e-mail us with some images of your work and we'll get back to you with details of what is available.

Ones To Watch: Offer To New Makers

As part of their pledge to support new makers Craft In Focus is offering this subsidised space at Desire Fair. So we are again staging a "Ones To Watch" area within our next Desire Fair.

This space is being subsidised by Craft in Focus to allow new and upcoming talent to get a foot on the ladder and show their work to an appreciative audience.

If you know of a new silversmith or jeweller who you feel would benefit, perhaps someone you have been mentoring recently, please forward this email to them and ask them to get in touch. Closing date for enquiries is 16 August.
Criteria.

Selection for the space will be carried out from 17 August, and will be completed by the end of the month. To qualify, makers should be new graduates or new to the industry and must have not exhibited at an event before. This would be a fantastic opportunity for newcomers to meet the public and receive feedback about their work, to understand the processes involved in participating in a fair of this nature and to meet established makers for networking and advice.

Dear Designer,

We are proud to announce that the UK’S leading magazine for applied and decorative arts Crafts Magazine is our official media partner. With an estimated readership of 48,000 we are very excited to be working with them.

Due to our new media partnership with Crafts Magazine we have added more space to accommodate demand.

In January next year CRAFT will be held at Earls Court, London. Organised by Clarion Events in association with Handmade in Britain, the aim is to create an event that exhibits the best of British and
International Craftsmanship.

With 75 leading makers having already been selected to take part in this prestigious new event, we are now taking applications for the final selection meeting which will take place on 30th September. Places are limited so apply now by visiting
