The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

Call for Entries Opens: August 1, 2016
Deadline: September 15, 2016

As the third juried member online exhibition in the We Are SNAG series, (Up)Setting the Stone is an exhibition looking for your interpretation of settings. Stonesetting has been utilized in some of the earliest known jewelry. There are thousands of variations based on a few different techniques. Whether used traditionally with gemstones, applied to new materials, or even explored as a concept, this exhibition focuses on the setting. Submissions such as jewelry, objects, vessels, sculpture, and architecture will be considered, but are not limited to these categories.

Juried by George Sawyer and Laura Wood, only images of works completed by current SNAG members will be evaluated.

Eligibility:

• Open to all SNAG members 18 years of age or older

• Applicants need not reside in the United States.

• All work must be original and produced within the last three years (2013 or later).

• Objects made from commercial kits or commercially available plans are NOT ELIGIBLE.

• Applicants are strongly encouraged, but not required, to apply with images that have not been widely circulated in Metalsmith or other publications.

• Collaborations are allowed under the conditions that 1, all artists involved are current members of SNAG; and 2, artists may only participate in one application: either as part of a collaboration OR as part of a personal application, but not both.

• Because this is an online exhibition, the audience can only experience the work through the photos you submit, therefore please submit the best possible photos that show the work as clearly as possible.

• There are no size restrictions for this exhibition

Requirements:

Applications will be accepted beginning on August 1, 2016 and must be received by midnight (11:59:59 pm) MOUNTAIN TIME September 15, 2016. Please account for time zone differences, as entries are not eligible via email and no exceptions will be made.
All entries must be made online through CallForEntry.org
