The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

UK Ethically Sourced Gemstone Fair

The collaborative partnership of three of the UK’s leading ethically sourced gemstone suppliers, Stuart Pool (Nineteen48), Kathy Chappell (Fair Trade Gemstones) and Ian Bone (Capricorn Gems) has led to an inaugural one-day fair for the UK market. This unique fair will see gemstones available with full provenance information.



Jewellery designers will be able to view and purchase, with the complete assurance of responsible mining and production. Details about the source of each gemstone will be available to every customer.

The gemstones on offer will include a wide range of sapphire, ruby, opals, diamonds, tanzanite, tourmaline, zircon, aquamarine and chrysoprase. These gems come from traceable sources in Sri Lanka, Australia, Malawi, Tanzania and the USA. Other gems from these countries will also be available to buy.

The fair is being held at the CIWEM Venue in Farringdon, London, on Tuesday 13th March 2018.

Residencies to USA, Canada, and International Artists to
Study Foundry and Pottery Crafts at a Wisconsin Arts Center
 
John Michael Kohler Arts Center (JMKAC)
 
Residencies to USA, Canada, and International individual artists working in all disciplines to explore the practice of foundry and pottery at an arts center in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. The purpose of this residency is to provide artists with technology, resources, and materials to explore new processes, ideas, and perspectives.
 
Artists-in-residence receive 24-hour access to studio space, materials, use of equipment, technical assistance, photographic services, housing, round-trip transportation, and a modest weekly stipend.
 
Each year, up to 16 artists are selected for residencies. Residencies run from two to six months in length.
 
Artists from all disciplines are encouraged to apply.

Learn the art of engraving on metal or improve yourself in this art with the internationally renowned Master Alain Lovenberg. Discover the traditional methods of Liège as well as innovative techniques used by professional engravers. Alain Lovenberg is a Master-Engraver since 1972, with an experience of more than 50 years in many styles and techniques of hand-engraving. He is instructor for the IFAPME ( professional training ) and teaching Master engraving classes in the USA in 2008, 2012 and 2017.
