is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.
Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.
We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

Happy New Year! We announced our new Goldsmiths’ Precious Metal Grant just before Christmas, and we wanted to make sure that you are happy with all of the new details of this exciting new opportunity (click here for full details of the competition and how to apply www.goldsmiths-centre.org/courses/goldsmiths-precious-metal-grant/). We also wanted to send you an update.
We have received some feedback that the timing may be too difficult for some students this year to make a piece in time for their degree show. We are conscious that this may deter some talented students from applying. Therefore we have decided to waive the degree show requirement this year, and extend the deadline for the completion of the piece to Friday 28th September. We hope that this will enable students to make the most of this exciting opportunity to design and make an innovative piece of silver or jewellery, with the potential to collaborate with a Goldsmiths' apprentice. We would hope that recipients exhibit their work in future shows following their graduation, and we would like to be kept updated of this and their general progress.
Next year we will launch the competition in the Autumn term to allow students to build the project into their final degree show work.
Please do ask if you have any questions at all. We are looking forward to receiving applications from your students.
Best wishes
Julia
