The Association for Contemporary Jewellery
is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.
Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.
We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

Samuel Waterhouse - Jeweller and Silversmith
http://www.craftinfocus.com/samuel-waterhouseSamuel Waterhouse is a self-taught jeweller and silversmith who aims to create contemporary jewellery and silverware inspired by antiquity. He began making after being shown a silver spoon made by his father - who then taught him the first basic techniques of silversmithing. Samuel then continued to teach himself through books, practice and experimentation.
As he is predominantly self-taught, Samuel sees his work as largely process led. He usually begins his work by creating his own alloy of metal specifically for a piece that he has in mind. He prefers working in this way as he believes that by beginning to make from this very base level (by alloying metals and casting ingots - then gradually becoming more refined in terms of process, accuracy and skill) it enables him to observe the transformation of materials and gain an insight into its physical character.Samuel's work is partly design led - mainly taking inspiration from antiquity, yet if he notices a particular way a material is responding he will respect and follow this development and let that partly determine how the piece continues to mature. His work is therefore inspired by the material's nature foremost, rather than a pre-developed design - his main motivation being to best illustrate that found nature, within a piece
of jewellery or silverware.

Weekdays by appointment until May 27, 2018With the support of the City of Castel San Giovanni (Piacenza, Italy) and the collaboration of AGC Associazione Gioiello Contemporaneo, LAO Le Arti Orafe Jewellery School – Firenze, Charon Kransen Arts, Joya International Art Jewellery Fair, Klimt02 network, this international studio jewelry competition has become a relevant happening for the cultural environment and the community of arts in Val Tidone, every year by exploring an international vision more and more accredited and widening to the passionate and researchers for contemporary experimental jewellery.
Starting from the landscapes of Italy in the wine-making region of Emilia hills, enjoying positive and inspiring environments, it opens its borders involving established and emerging artists from every country to express their relation with this particular context. Contemporary jewellery here may be seen as a “fermenting” creative process: the challenge is to turn natural and available elements into something precious and unique.
A great attention is payed to the student sections, involving institutes for art education based all over the world which would offer an interesting view to younger students and undergraduates looking for further in/depth experiences (learning and master degree sections).

Jewelry Center92Y Jewelry Residency Program92nd Street Y’s International Jewelry Artist Residency is a juried residency for cutting edge, emerging and established jewelry artists to develop their work in the multifaceted New York City art scene.For a month from August 22 through September 23, 2018, the Residency will provide the opportunity for an international artist with a studio-based practice to develop a new body of work or complete research while engaging with NYC’s cultural community. Applications and supporting materials must be submitted by February 12, 2018. A rotating panel of experts and professionals in the arts and humanities will independently review applications and materials, and the selected jeweler will be notified by April 2, 2018.
