Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

Get hands-on with craft and technology

On 27 and 28 October, makerspaces, fablabs, museums, galleries, and libraries nationwide will be throwing open their doors for Make:Shift:Do, our festival of digital making that combines traditional craft with technology and new materials - offering a tinker-tastic range of making workshops and activities.

Transform a plastic milk bottle into a heart shaped decoration; create a 3D printed wheelchair or heart monitor; explore digital embroidery and much more. Find a venue near you and get involved.

The Craft & Design Collective and Craft Northern Ireland have been working in partnership for six months and have now formed Craft NI, which aims to strengthen the input of those working in craft on a national and international level.

The Arts Council of Northern Ireland’s Head of Visual Arts, Suzanne Lyle, described the merger as a “smart solution” for two organisations contributing valuable services to the development of craft in the country.

Public donations to arts projects increase and fundraising skills improve when crowdfunding campaigns are matched with other funds, new research shows.

This form of fundraising – combining public and private funding with smaller donations from the public raised through online platforms – was trialled amongst arts organisations in a nine-month pilot programme backed by Arts Council England (ACE), the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and online platform Crowdfunder.

The 2017 edition of Sieraad Jewellery Art Fair opens the doors in November 9th. The direct contact with the designers is one of the most attractive aspects for visitors. The enormous variety in styles, ranging from the more traditional to explicitly artistic and experimental, also forms an inspiration for each visitor to find something to their own taste. https://klimt02.net/events/fairs/sieraad-2017-gasholder-westergasfa...

CRAFTED WORDS
A PARTNERSHIP BETWEN RADIANT PAVILION AND ART JEWELRY FORUM

October 11, 2017, San Francisco, California, USA--Art Jewelry Forum is pleased to present a short series of critical essays, collectively called Crafted Words, as a result of a partnership with Radiant Pavilion.

Supported by Art Jewelry Forum, Creative Victoria, and the City of Melbourne, Crafted Words encourages craft writers from Victoria, Australia, to consider critical discourse around contemporary craft. The goal is to support critical reflection and discussion about work shown at Radiant Pavilion, which was held from August 26 through September 3, 2017, as well as issues in the field from a range of perspectives.

Crafted Words asked emerging writers to submit proposals that were then juried, with two proposals selected. In addition, two established writers were invited to participate. The theme, direction, and format was entirely up to the writers, but the texts reflect on the event in some way--what they saw, issues that arose, discussions that were sparked, etc.

The four essays will be published on Art Jewelry Forum once a week starting on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. ...
