The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

Working for free: what’s to like?
Artists are often asked to work for free in return for exposure via social media likes and audience praise, so for a recent commission (paid) Alistair Gentry decided to walk around Folkestone dressed in a cliched 'artist's costume' asking other types of worker if they'd do the same. Perhaps unsurprisingly, they weren't particularly keen.

The Mayor and the Greater London Authority (GLA) are undertaking a London-wide review of artists’ workspace. This review builds upon the GLA’s 2014 Artists’ Workspace Study and will inform the Mayor‘s Cultural Infrastructure Plan.

This survey is open to both providers and users of artists’ workspace. You do not have to be based in London to respond to this survey, but you should have experience of using or providing artists’ workspace in London.

The survey aims to gather intelligence on artists' workspace, networks across creative industries, affordability and accessibility. This will help the Mayor better understand the key opportunities, threats and challenges facing London's artists and artists’ workspace providers.

We will ask you if you are a provider or user of artists’ workspace, and gather your contact details. You can then opt to take the detailed survey straight away, opt to take it later, or opt out.

The detailed survey will close on Friday the 20th of October 2017.

We Made That have been commissioned by the GLA to carry out this work. If you have any questions about the study, then please email tristan@wemadethat.co.uk

By completing and submitting this survey you are granting consent to the GLA to use the information provided for the purposes of this study. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfr7vCqCeOgNWGA1cTSfHs6ZUJ...
