The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

Winchester - Exhibit at The Guildhall (17-19 November 2017)

We are circulating information again about our Winchester craft fair in November as, whilst speaking to exhibitors at our recent event at RHS Garden Wisley, it was clear that many had not noticed that we are introducing a mixed craft fair at Winchester this year which will be staged alongside our regular Desire Jewellery and Silversmithing Fair. This will be our ninth year at Winchester so we have a well-established visitor attendance already. The two fairs will be marketed as having individual identities but with a single admission fee covering both events.

The event is held within the well-known period building which is situated at the end of the High Street making the venue very accessible from the town centre car parks. Winchester is one of the most affluent areas in the south, making this the ideal location in which to stage this event.

Set up will be on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning with the event opening to the public from 12.30 - 7.30 pm on Friday and then from 10 am - 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

An unlimited number of free admission tickets will be available for exhibitors to distribute to their customers and Craft In Focus has booked a large door to door campaign with Royal Mail distributing free tickets to promote this addition to our normal event. This is in addition to the usual high level of advertising we always do for our events.

Comment by Rebecca Skeels on May 20, 2017 at 10:27am: The American Craft Council announced in a press release that executive director Chris Amundsen has tendered his resignation. Amundsen’s last day will be August 4, 2017.

Leilani Lattin Duke, ACC Life Trustee and former board chair, says, “I was privileged to chair the board when Chris was hired. While he came from “outside” the craft field, his accomplishments in previous jobs, his skillset, and his personality earned him the board's confidence. Chris joined the Council immediately following the decision to relocate the Council from New York City to Minneapolis. He led the Council through a tumultuous time, hiring an outstanding staff and working closely with the board to address the relocation challenges. His steady hand and warm personality over the past seven years ensured the Council's successful transition to a more relevant, stable, and energetic organization serving craft artists and the field. He leaves a legacy of strong leadership and Council programs for his successor.”
