The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

Call for applications: Talente Competition 2017
Talente was founded in 1980 as international competition for all areas of craft and design. The selected participant can only exhibit once. A participation is only possible until the age of 33 (for the field technique up to 35 years of age). An international jury selects the winners of the "Talente"-Price. The special exhibition is jointly financed by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy and the Bavarian State Ministry for Economics and Media, Energy and Technology.

The aim of Talente is to promote young people with a particular manual talent and to show an interested audience the enormous potential which lies in the new generation in crafts and trades. The works will be the outcome of formal or technical considerations and experiments, showing something new and exceptional.

In an area of 600 m², the works will be shown to a wide audience, with an international jury selecting the winners of the TALENTE prize. An illustrated catalogue will be published.

Participants are chosen from any section of crafts and technology. They will have made the artefact by their own hands. Age limit is set at 33 in the domains of crafts, and at 35 in the domain of technology.
Deadline for all applications will be the 1st October 2016.

The competition is publicly funded. This covers the space on the fair itself, the catalogue entry and part of the transport of the objects to and from Munich.

Prizes and Awards:
Talente-Prize

Eight contributions will be awarded with the TALENTE-Prize.
Works will be acknowledged at the TALENTE-Catalogue of the following year (including photography and text).
Distinguished exhibitors receive a certificate.

Bavarian States Prize

Every exhibitor at the International Trade Fair can apply for the Bavarian States Prize.
The Bavarian States Prize is awarded with 5.000 Euros, a gold medal and a certificate.

Schmuck is a special show of the International Trade Fair for the Skilled Trades taking place in Munich in March each year since 1959. Jewellery art reflects its day and age. The high standards and stunning inventiveness of its participants turn the international special show Schmuck into a renowned show case for trends in jewellery art world wide.
We receive about 700 applications for the participation at SCHMUCK per year. The selection is made by a distinguished jewellery teacher changing every year.

“ Schmuck 2016” was again visited with significant interest in the contemporary jewellery. The Herbert Hofmann Prize 2016 was awarded to Stefano Marchetti, Moniek Schrijer and Jelizaveta Suska. The Bavarian States Prize was given to Sigurd Bronger, Junwon Jung and Kadri Mälk.

Deadline for all applications will be the 1st October 2016.

The competition is publicly funded. This covers the space on the fair itself, the catalogue entry and part of the transport of the objects to and from Munich.

internship positions
We offer different positions depending on the candidate's skills and profile.
Work at Klimt02 isn’t a “bench work” and most of the time will be spent in front of a computer / thinking. For this role it is very important to be aware of what is currently happening in the jewellery field, how the industry works but also it’s a theoretical work. We work with databases, contact artists, discuss new ways of publication...

Department directors of the schools are welcome to contact us in order to establish an official and regular agreement. http://klimt02.net/events/open-calls/internship-positions-2016-17-k...
