Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

Talente Competition 2016 Winners

During the Handwerksmesse Munich, this years winner of Talente 2016 Competition were announced: Sarah Bartmann, Naama Ben Moshe, Dovile Bernadisiute, Carina Deuschl, Mariana Mejia Suarez, Jieun Oh, Joseph Spannagel and Edu Tarín.

Jewellery:
Dovile Bernadisiute, Lithuania
With Dovile Bernadisiute‘s pendants and brooches the jury liked the reflection on contemporary life and the convincing way of including and transforming found objects. Not only the choice of these findings but also the form of the works relate to everyday life, especially in transit areas like railway stations and airports. They are linked for example to mobile phones or powder boxes. The works emanate calm and assume a talisman-like function.

Edu Tarin, Spain / Germany
Edu Tarin‘s brooches and pendants not only convinced by their sculptural quality but also by the unusual way of working with the material. They are characterized by the combination of tradition and modern technique. The seeming simplicity of the monumental works helps to concentrate on their unusual surface.

Techniques:
Joseph Spannagel, Germany
Josephs Spannagel’s light object is characterized by the numerous possibilities of variation and configuration as well as by the carefully considered power supply line and the innovative way of power transmission. The jury was convinced by the novel construction and the use of magnets positioned inside the construction.

Dear Fellow ACJ members,

I am writing to introduce myself to you and the Narrative Jewellery project I am undertaking. I have run Crafthaus on-line exhibitions highlighting narrative jewellery and my website details are below if you would like to see my work.

I am approaching Narrative Jewellers whose work is inspired or informed by the narrative to ask if they would like to have their work included in the book I am writing, I have a publisher and the book will be distributed worldwide.

If selected for the book you will need to sign a Release Form for images submitted.

There is no cost to be included in the book, just a little of your time

And here are the links to the Crafthaus exhibitions which was in two parts so you can see some of the makers

http://crafthaus.ning.com/group/tales-from-the-tool-box-chapter-one...

http://crafthaus.ning.com/group/tales-from-the-tool-box-chapter-two...

The book will have a foreword by Professor Jack Cunningham and will also include images his work, two essays by Dauvit Alexander and Jo Pond also with images of their work

At this time I have over 200 other makers. These Include:

        Professor Keith Lewis (USA)
        Arther Hash (USA)
        Ruud Peters (Netherlands)
        Ted Noton (Netherlands)

I’m hoping to have around 300 images and I’m still contacting other narrative makers and inviting them to be included.

If you know of any other narrative makers that I could approach that would be of great help.

If you are interested in having your work in the book please e-mail at mark@markfenn.co.uk with Tales from the toolbox – ACJ in the Subject line (this will help me Identify new makers). I will then e-mail you with the deadline date and how to submit the files to me.

Please Note: do not send any images or text at this time. I’m just wanting to have makers express their interest in taking part.

Please may I ask that you keep the contents and any attachments of this e-mail confidential and not to disclose the title and contents of the book at this stage.

I look forward to hearing back for you.

With best wishes and kind regards,

Mark Fenn

http://www.no-gram.com/ NO-GRAM is the first "Shopping Cloud" totally dedicated to contemporary jewellery. The founder of NO-GRAM, Rita Marcangelo, with years of experience in the field as a gallery owner and curator, wanted to bring art jewellery to an even wider public.

The project is promoted by Alternatives gallery and was founded with the express purpose of creating a meeting place between independent designers and an international clientele in search of something unique and innovative. Individuality is a key word and our experts travel far and wide to select the very best designers around the world.

The works we propose are the result of a rigorous selection process, made through the careful evaluation of the quality of the craftsmanship and artistic value of each piece. The materials used to make the jewellery are of little importance to us. What really matters is the quality, uniqueness and originality. Quality is the key to finding an object you will want to cherish for a long time, and this is exactly what we strive to achieve at NO-GRAM, as quality matters to us, our clientele matters to us!

Did you know one of the reasons Art Jewelry Forum (AJF) releases our publications during Munich Jewelry Week is to alleviate the cost of international shipping for our supporters? Demand has increased for AJF publications worldwide, so we will now mail some books directly from Paris to help reduce the cost of shipping AJF publications. Now shipping a single copy of On and Off internationally will be $5 and shipping 10 copies will be $10.
Being a small, global organization is tough, but we try our best! Special thanks to AJF editor Benjamin Lignel for wearing many--always stylish--hats.
This newsletter contains the first articles looking at Munich Jewelry Week. There will be more coming out in the next few weeks, including a video interview and a video recording of The Meet, two panel discussions--one about collecting and the other about different content providers. We don't want you to miss out!
