Hi Everybody!
I'm very pleased to invite you to the following workshop. Feel free to write me if you have any questions:
celiefago@comcast.net
Best wishes,
Celie

Metal work for these designs will include a section on Keum-boo, a Korean method of bonding 24k gold foil to silver, a relatively inexpensive way to add gold to your work (Keum-boo on PMC Sterling requires no depletion gilding!). Engineering for found objects, and riveting, will also be covered. Whether you’re an old pro or a new enthusiast you have a treat in store for you with the new PMC Sterling!

In this premier workshop, you'll explore ring design in PMC Sterling and learn techniques developed specifically to take advantage of these features.

Who should take this class?: This class is suitable for all skill levels and all skill levels can benefit from this curriculum. There are no prerequisites but some basic understanding of metal clay will be helpful.

 Jerwood Makers Open 2013

Emerging applied artists working across craft disciplines are invited to apply for Jerwood Makers Open 2013.

Five commissions of £7,500 will be awarded to artists to create new work, which will then be exhibited as part of the Jerwood Visual Arts programme at Jerwood Space, London 10 July - 25 August 2013.

Jerwood Makers Open is designed to commission and showcase new work by emerging artists working in the applied arts. Five commissions of £7,500 will be awarded to artists to create new work, to be exhibited as part of the JVA programme at Jerwood Space, London and on tour nationally. Artists will be chosen by an independent selection panel and must be UK resident and within 10 years of graduating or setting up their practice.

Launched in 2010, Jerwood Makers Open has been developed to create a space in which to recognise and celebrate the significance of making practice and process within the contemporary visual arts. This initiative offers makers at the early stages of their careers an opportunity to develop their creative ideas independently of specific commissioning structures by submitting a proposal for new work. It totals an investment of £37,500 in new applied arts commissions.

Entry is by online application. Please click here to visit the online entry page.

Deadline for entries:5pm, Monday 12 November 2012

All applicants are required to submit:

-A completed online application outlining the details of your proposal

-A current CV

-A maximum of six images of current work or work in progress (files no larger than 500 kb)

-An entry fee of £20

In considering proposals, the selectors will debate as a panel what they consider to be outstanding and original practice in the applied arts and will explore this through their selection. They will also consider how this particular opportunity could catalyse potential positive developments to individual makers’ practice and profile.

The selectors will consider all eligible proposals, and from this will select a shortlist of makers who will be invited to be interviewed by the selectors. Applicants will be notified of interviews by 23rd November 2012, and interviews will take place on one day in the week commencing 3rd December 2012 at Jerwood Space, London SE1 OLN. Five awards will then be made and makers will be notified by 7th December 2012. Comments from the selection panel at the first round stage will be passed on to those short listed for interview only.

For updates follow JVA on twitter @jerwoodjva #JMO12

For queries about the application process or for those unable to enter online please contact Parker Harris, the exhibition organisers on 01372 462190 or email jmo@parkerharris.co.uk
