The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

To start off 2016, we have some new and very exciting materials including ultra thin solar cells, ceramic wood materials, magnetic fabrics and even a glowing interactive wood.

Enjoy!

A desktop 3D printer that uses paper, ink and glue to create highly detailed objects has been unveiled at the CES tech show in Las Vegas.

Mcor said it was the first time such technology had become available in a machine suitable for classrooms and offices.

The device is one of many new 3D printers to have been announced.

Other launches include a sub-£200 ($300) model and a machine that creates circuit boards.

We are honoured to celebrate Malcolm Appleby’s 70th birthday, which marks over 50 years of a creative tour de force. Malcolm Appleby has dedicated his artistic practice primarily to engraving and pushing the boundaries of metalwork; constant experimentation has made him a master of his craft and in 2014 he received an MBE for his outstanding contribution to the arts. This birthday exhibition sets out to provide a snapshot of Malcolm’s current work.

1471 outstanding European craftsmen have been selected by Madineurope in 2014 and 2015. Many more will be welcome in 2016.

Madineurope selects artisans who provide customized services and manufacture rare and high-end products among the best of Europe. Artisans who wish to join Madineurope are checked one by one before acceptation and publication. Experience, techniques, knowhow, references, reputation, customers’ reviews and feedback are key criteria for our selection.
Madineurope is a very useful source of information about European excellence in Fine arts and Crafts for private consumers, designers, architects, interior designers, antique dealers and many other professionals.
In 2016 choose the excellence and join Madineurope !
