The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

The Desire Fair is staging another fabulous event at the Old Town Hall in Chelsea. Don't miss this opportunity to view and purchase work from some of the UK's finest designer makers.

The event showcases stunning collections from both emerging British talent as well as established contemporary jewellers and silversmiths. All are professional designer makers who have been selected from the very best jewellers and silversmiths in the UK for the quality of their work, individuality and innovation.

Jewellers here work in leather, acrylic, ceramics, paper, glass, copper and wood as well as more traditional silver, gold and platinum jewellery featuring gemstones, pearls, beads and enamelwork.

Take a look at our Facebook album for a small sample of the type of work that can be viewed and purchased at this event.

Don't miss kinetic jewellery by Michael Berger, cellulose acetate jewellery by Lesley Strickland, fold-formed jewellery pieces in aluminium,

Bold jewellery by Kate Gorman
copper and silver by NbNg and innovative, bold, mixed media jewellery by
Kate Gorman for those who really want to stand out from the crowd!

What is Luxury?
What is Luxury? is a free Crafts Council and V&A exhibition, from 25 April to 27 September 2015 in the Porter Gallery at the V&A.

What is Luxury? will look at luxury today. Extraordinary works of craftsmanship will be on display including a couture gown by fashion designer Iris van Herpen and fine examples of haute horologerie by British watchmaker George Daniels, alongside more unexpected projects which explore the cultural value of materials such as gold, diamonds and plastic.

The First Decade Project
Hundreds of archive items such as sketchbooks, drawings, photos and letters from the Crafts Council Collection are going online this year as part of The First Decade Project

The First Decade Project, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, is the first step in digitising the Crafts Council Collection’s archive. The project will focus on 100 objects acquired between 1972 to 1982 in order to create a rich digital story for each. The project will go live in November 2015.
