Creative Libraries - Participation Programme Opportunities

Creative Libraries is a new project for Wiltshire, led by the Library and Arts Services of Wiltshire Council and jointly funded by the Arts Council of England South West. It aims to deliver an ambitious programme within the library network that connects communities and explores the potential for long term collaboration and new business opportunities for creatives, and to establish and animate a countywide partnership of arts organisations exploring the potential for libraries to be the creative heart of local communities. This is being delivered in a number of ways through; networking and sharing events, five large scale commissions, ten Micro Commissions and a participation programme.

The Participation programme is an opportunities for artists and arts organisations to develop new creative working relationships within the Wiltshire library service. They are looking for projects and workshops that allow communities to take part in ‘hands on’ arts activities, perhaps trying something new and learn new skills. Applicants should give thought to the communities they want to work in and the appropriateness of the activity, and how they will use the resources and inspirations from the libraries they choose to base the work in, to enhance or inform the sessions.

You can download details about the participation programme here.

For more information, if you have any questions or to find out if your idea is eligible please email arts@wiltshire.gov.uk

Deadline for applications: 12pm, Friday 17 January 2014

Also find out about the Micro Commissions here.

Three films are live this week, including a new series on using Checkerboard cut gemstones.

A FREE webcast is planned for laterthis month and we would like your suggestions, so just drop us a line and let us know what you would like Andrew to demonstrate.

My workshop is being emptied this month and is available for jewellers and silversmiths. Based on Fullers Road, Rowledge (near farnham) in beautiful garden setting. A basic wooden studio but insulated with electric and sink - 2 bench spaces and approx 13 x 13ft. Cheap as you only pay utilities and insurance (approx. £10-15 a month). Use of band saw and wood lathe. Painter and ceramicist in two other studios in the garden. Loads of parking, near bus stop from farnham. Contact annfoster222@gmail.com for more details. Please pass onto others, will put a post up on benchpeg and if anyone else can think of anywhere else to advertise? It really has been an invaluable space to me when I haven't had the luxury of space at home so I'm sure someone else would benefit from it too.
