Yesterday was the opening of an exhibition with brazilian jewelry artists in the Galerie Beeld & Aambeeld in Enschede, Netherlands.

The curator, Nicole Uurbanus, born in the Netherlands but living in Brazil for a long time, had this great idea of promoting an exhibition with a selection of significant names of Brazilian Contemporary Jewelry scene. I had the pleasure to be invited to be part of it.

The exhibition will be displayed until the end of December and there are photos of some of the pieces at Klimt02.

What is great about this, is the iniciative of Uurbanus. She had the idea and fought for it. With a great deal of colaboration of all artists involved (which actually was not so much work), and of course of the gallery, and so she made a great move.

I guess this is a good example to make us think that acting for a group can make things easier to happen.

I am particularly happy with this situation because it was possible to show in the same exhibition collages/drawings and jewelry. As my attitude towards jewelry is very much as an art media, it makes sense to show both together, once they belong to the same series of works.

That is also a possibility to be considered for us all jewelry creators: to involve other medias and to let our other production appear together, if they fit the concept.

And as Uurbanus example, we could start doing more of this kind of events around the world: involving a great initiative, some fedex investment and a dash of mutual collaboration.

Big round of applause for the good idea and the actual execution of it.

Cooperations amongst various media makes sense in a lot of ways. At a time when markets are saturated with "how we do things normally", we all need to take a long hard look out of our own personal boxes and into the bigger world out there. By cooperating with artists/other media we open up to not only new experiences for our own artistic development (and that of our cooperative partners), we also explore new ways to show our work to collectors/buyers/interested individuals who would otherwise not have had access to it. That was my idea behind forming a call for"Cooperation Tableware", an exhibition that will take place in Seattle in the Spring of 2011. I am thrilled to see that others are following along this path as well.

Collaboration on a bigger scale has been long overdue. Now is the time. Bravo!
Hi Brigitte, it is such a pitty that I only realized you were organizing Cooperation Tableware now!
Well, I accepted the invitation and I will be following ;-)
