We are seeking funds for an upcoming exhibition titled Metals 2012. This exhibition will be an invitational exhibition to Colleges and Universities in the State of Michigan and bordering areas of Northern Ohio and Indiana. Through Metals 2012, we hope to increase the dialog across neighboring institutions and promote our craft to the community at large.
In total, we have identified 12 Colleges and Universities with metals programs within the region that will be invited. College for Creative Studies (CCS) has signed on as our host location. CCS not only has ample gallery space and security, but also a wide range of pedestals and walls for mounting the exhibition.
Each participating institution will have volunteers dropping off /picking up work and helping with mounting the exhibition. MSG will provide additional volunteers to create a digital version of the exhibition that will be posted on the MSG website and will also share it with the members of Crafthaus.
In February of 2011, Metals 2011 was hosted in the University of Michigan Health Care System Galleries. Participating institutions included: Bowling Green State University, College for Creative Studies and Eastern Michigan University with over 50 pieces of work created by students and faculty. Here is a link to last year’s exhibition Metals 2011: http://misilversmith.org/metals2011/
The requested budget would be used to print post cards (2500 cards for $143.10), mail the postcards to the participating institutions ($85), create labels for the artwork ($12.18) and cover a modest opening reception ($100).
