A Harvest used to describe a traditional method of collecting ripened foods and crops, on small independent farms often managed by the family. Today, with mechanized farming and modern industrial agriculture, the word harvest is almost redundant. We are less connected to the land and less in touch with the seasons as most foods are available year round. So what does “Harvest" mean in today’s world? Is there a new context for this word? Does it have a place in the world of ideas, business and commerce or any other modern activity?

The works selected for this exhibition offer an interpretation of the traditional understanding of Harvest, a more modern take on the idea, or the juxtaposition of the two.

Crafthaus is a democratic forum: EVERY crafthauser regardless of location, academic or media background is invited to submit short proposals and ideas at any time. We like "unusual" exhibition ideas. A lot!

Members will curate their online shows and are solely responsible for their exhibitions from beginning to end. Of course, technical assistance is always available, but crafthaus does not interfere in curatorial decisions.

A typical exhibition contains about 20+ images. If a show has an "open call" (see listings below) all members are invited to contact the curators and submit images via email for the exhibitions posted.

NOTE: There will be absolutely no fee collected from submitting members, and no renumeration will be paid to the curators either ! This is an effort to give all members a chance to do something just for the fun of it, be a curator and select work, or have work shown without regard to the usual hassles and cost of shipping, insurance, storage considerations, and so on.

Exhibitions will stay on crafthaus even after the official exhibition time has passed. Curators and artists are encouraged to add their participation into their bios, with a direct link to the respective page. Because crafthaus grows and work gets added to the site daily, some curators choose to continually evolve their exhibitions even after the official time has passed, therefore taking another look at past exhibitions might reveal new pieces.
