Do we have janitor's scheduled for the weekend? Did we double check the reservations for all the rooms and spaces? Triple check? Do we have the appropriate number of parking passes? Are all the housing assignments done and has everyone received an email confirming their housing arrangements? All of this takes place over the later half of winter break and many of us are on campus soon after new year's day in order to get everything in place. We print the names tags. Double check our food arrangements and work with the staff at the university to make sure that all of the technological needs of our presenters can be accommodated. Hi Crafthaus folk,My name is Joshua Mark Craig and it is my honor to introduce the 4th Material Topics Symposium to the crafthaus world. I first became a part of Material Topics 3 years ago as an undergraduate at Indiana University. Without knowing what to expect, my good friend Andrew Kuebeck and I drove the 14 hours from Bloomington, Indiana to Greenville, North Carolina to join what would become a yearly tradition on the campus of East Carolina University. What we found when we got there was nothing short of amazing. The Material Topics symposium, (which is completely organized and run by the Metals students of ECU), brought together a fabulous line up of exhibitions, presenters, workshops, lectures, and even a rocking final night party with music and dancing. I think Andrew and I new immediately that the 14…Continue

For the next 13 months we'll discuss the trials, triumphs, and tribulations of exhibiting in art shows as emerging artists and established artists. Exhibition coverage will be balanced with tips on how to strategically build a legacy over a length of time, in a way that makes sense to your individual goals as an artist and maker.
Join us each month! There will be surprises around every corner, with photos, videos, SNAG conference coverage, and occasional interviews by rising artists!
