I am really excited about going to this conference! Many interesting shows, speakers, an awesome PDS program (if I may say so myself,) and much more.

Jillian Moore, who blogged the Houston conference will again do the honors for us in Seattle. Look out for her funny commentaries and insights on the happenings. She will be busy.

Katja Toporski  who bloged the Gray Area Symposium in Mexico City (2010) for crafthaus, will cover this conference as well. Part of her focus will be on student issues. If you are a current student attending the conference, please get in touch with Katja asap to talk about your expectations and goals.

Fasten your seat belts. This is going to be interesting.

I must admit that the last day was a little blurry for me, and I missed several of the days events. It started with a wonderful lecture by Lori Talcott, whose work reflects the traditions in jewelry…Continue

Much of the conference content was public knowledge before landing in Seattle, but there were a lot of surprises as well this year.  Some I was in on, and some I wasn’t.  I may have opportunistically…Continue

Seattle Trunk Show Huge Success

Trunk ShowThe inaugural Trunk Show in Seattle succeeded beyond our wildest expectations. The 56 participating artists rang up $30,598 in sales in just two hours. People were lined up before the doors even opened, and then lined up at the cashier with purchases in hand.

The Trunk Show Committee is comprised of Andy Cooperman,Trunk ShowDon Friedlich, Brigitte Martin, Michelle Pajak-Reynolds, Corliss Rose and John Rose. Kudos to them for creating this event from scratch. Watch for the second annual Trunk Show next year in Phoenix, with many more cashiers.

I'd be really interested to hear feedback from the Educator's Dialogue. Could someone please comment on the topics that were discussed. I couldn't attend.
Thank you !

I hope you all have a great time at the SNAG conference! Thank you to those who will be writing and streaming the show for us to who cant go.

If you get a chance, stop by Traver Gallery to see "Dual" curated by Catherine Grisez. Some of my pieces were fortunate to make it! Happy conference...

Brigitte

the Smaller Conference  Experience is definitely on my schedule! See you there!

Comment by Brigitte Martin on May 18, 2011 at 11:31am

Yes, there will be name tags given out at the registration desk automatically. Feel free to "out" yourself as a crafthauser by copying the logo and putting it onto your name tag. There are plenty of us at the conference, and you are right, it will definitely help.

Also, please consider coming to the SMALLER CONFERENCE EXPERIENCE that Harriete and I are organizing on the first day, Thursday. That is an ice-breaker like no other !!

I've never been to Snag before - are there name tags or some such thing that people wear? I'd sure like to meet my fellow crafthausers, and if we could wear the crafthaus icon so it was visible that would help.

SNAG Toronto part 4

I'll leave my Toronto report with a few notes about the conference lectures and presentations. I'd have to say that there certainly was a mosaic of diversity in the 3+ days at the Royal York Hotel. From Damian Skinner's stoic keynote series on the jewelry making/marketing universe in his musical New Zealand accent, through a series of very short "rapid-fire" presentations by a wide variety of artists, to the Professional Development Seminar that lashed the artists and their works to the…See More
