Katja Toporski, based in the Washington DC area, originally from Germany, trained in metalsmithing in the UK. She is part of the studio 4903 group in Washington DC, and will be starting graduate school at Towson University in the fall. Her current work is composed of fine silver, and fine nylon fibers, and other materials: "My pieces are quite fragile, and have an aerated quality, as the materials are very delicate. This is intentional, giving the pieces a transparency, under which things can be hidden, or allowed to rest while providing shelter."
