One of the artists featured in the Humor in Craft book and exhibit, Loring Taoka, will be at the Society of Contemporary Craft this weekend!  If you're in the Pittsburgh area, it's not too late to register for his workshop, The Funnies, at www.contemporarycraft.org.  We will also have a reception in his honor on Saturday (the 20th) at 5pm.  Hope to see you there!

Very nice, I'd say.

The Humor book now has its own website listing author engagements (book signings, public appearances etc.) as well as scheduled exhibitions. You can also purchase copies of the book directly from the author and request a signature and dedication while you are at it. :-)

Enjoy.

Thanks Brigitte, can hardly wait to see it!!

Kelly, this publisher does not give out free copies to contributors. I asked for it but they said no. However, if you buy the book via amazon.com you get it at a considerable discount from the regular retail price :-)

In the unlikely case that the IRS would frown upon such a deduction, you could still beat your accountant over the head with this book. Like my mom used to say when I got smacked: 'You know what you did.'

I may have missed the answer to this question...Do contributing artists who were accepted into the book receive a complimentary copy? No problem if not, I just wanted to check. Thanks :)

Interviewing NCECA 2013 Emerging Artist Linda Swanson

NCECA 2013 Emerging Artist Linda Swanson makes us think about ceramic materials in a new and dynamic way.  Her installation, site specific, fired and unfired work all has an emphasis on time, material and transformation.  Linda generously shared her time and thoughts with me about her current studio practice and the path that has led her there.  I hope you enjoy this interview with Linda Swanson.  You can see more of her work at: …See More
