And so my day begins. Time to get up for my assignment. Traveling to Minneapolis for a few days. One always forgets how time-consuming travel is. All that planning and thinking, and then the day itself spent away from my desk...

Chicago traffic. Never fun. Only good thing is my trusted driver, Ibrahim. A Coptic Christian from Egypt, he has amazing stories to tell. First met him a few years ago as an Uber driver and he's been driving me ever since. Always shows up 15 minutes BEFORE his appointment. Never late, not even at 4am. Love it.

Is there anything more depressing and woefully non-designed than an airport waiting area? At least I am not flying United today. Small favors. If anyone is at O'Hare right now, come see me at gate K16! I need some cheering up. Dull. Duller. Dullest.

Finally boarded and seated. But we all know this means nothing these days, right?

After a one hour flight I got to Minneapolis. It's kinda flat and squarish. Make that real flat. Real squarish.

And then a pleasant surprise: a special curb just for app-based ride shares! This is so much better and faster than in Chicago where the taxis put up one big hissie fit after the other to avoid the competition. Nice going, Minneapolis!

Home for the next few days: A cute little AirBnB in the Minneapolis Uptown area.
There's a grocery store just 2 blocks down where I'm now headed. I need coffee and some breakfast stuff, then I'm going to set up base camp here to get some work done after I've been out all day! This is going to work out real well.

It's raining right now, but IDC. Tomorrow is a full day at the magazine.
