Interdisciplinary. Community. Advocacy. Humor.
So on my very "adult" To Do list for today was to enter a couple of exhibitions with deadlines swiftly approaching. Unfortunately for me, I can find several of the pieces I need to photograph, after having moved them from the spot they've been sitting in for weeks. While I continue searching my studio, I encourage all of you to apply.
The first show is the Maria V. Howard Arts Center's annual Handcrafted Exhibition. Open to all craft media, this is a national jurried show with some pretty decent prize money and a $1000 purchase award. This year's juror is enamelist and professor Mi Sook Hur. (If you're not familiar with her work, look it up. It's AMAZING!). I've been submitting to this show for several years now, and it is one of my favorites to be in. The center is an old converted tobacco warehouse in Rocky Mount NC, and is just simply a beautiful exhibition space, and they always have fantastic work on display. I'm always impressed with Handcrafted every year.
For more information on how to apply either online or by mail check here. Deadline Nov. 21.
The next exhibition if sponsored by the Enamelist Society. Alchemy 4 will be jurried by Marianne Hunter, Sharon Massey and Beate Gegenwart, and travel to galleries at Arrowmont School of Craft, the Ohio Craft Museum and the National Ornamental Metals Museum. There are both professional and student categories to this show.

I'm going to keep hunting for that work so I can jump on these opportunities! Best of luck SNAG members!
