Humans harness the ability to contain or control heat and the capacity to apply it selectively. Heat can act as a catalyst; it is a necessary factor in the formation of minerals and critical elements. Heat can also be interpreted as a result of friction, or the anxiety and excitement of competition. Whether the techniques we use are ancient or contemporary, many of them share in common the factor of heat.
The 2012 SNAG Conference Program Advisory Committee is currently seeking proposals from presenters that tie into the conference theme. If you've seen an excellent presentation that would contribute to our field, also send that information to the Committee. The Exhibitions Committee is also inviting artists or curators (individuals or groups) to submit proposals for exhibitions in response to the conference theme.
