The last post was just the tip of the ice burg in terms of opportunities for residencies and assistantships. Many of the institutions listed in this post also have deadlines coming up in the next month or so, so keep those applications coming!

Peters Valley School of Craft: I love Peters Valley. I was lucky enough be both an assistant and a fellow in consecutive summers. As an Artist Fellow, you're in charge of running the studio, making sure instructors have what they need and that the students are content. As an assistant, you do some studio cleaning/ etc. but your day to day is spent helping in the workshops, especially if the instructor is otherwise engaged. You get to meet all kinds of awesome people and you'll learn a TON. You can get more info here.

Jentel: I don't know a whole lot about Jentel, but everyone I know that's been there has just had the best things to say about it. Jentel is located way out near the mountains in Wyoming. They don't offer traditional studio facilities, so they provide a great opportunity to do more with less, and take a more relaxed pace. You can read more about it here.

McColl Center for Art + Innovation: I just recently learned about the McColl Center, which just goes to show how little I pay attention to the other side of the state. Oops. Located in Charlotte, the McColl Center offers 3-16 week residency opportunities, as well as an affiliate artist program. More about it here.

Pocosin Arts: Pocosin Arts is located in the tiny, but picturesque town, of Columbia, NC. They offer 1 year residencies in both jewelry/metals and ceramics, as well as a new and exciting opportunity for art educators. There's not a lot to do in Columbia as a whole, but Pocosin offers some great workshop program and it's a great environment to buckle down and get some work done. You can read more about it here.

A. I. R. Studio Paducah: This is a sweet little opportunity in Paducah,  Kentucky. Artists get large studio spaces and an efficiency apartment. 2017 looks pretty well booked, but it's never to early to look ahead to 2018. More information here.
