The recipients of the Society for Midwest Metalsmiths 2015 Merit Scholarships are Caitlin Skelcey, Joshua Kosker and Katelyn Butler. Congratulations to them for their outstanding work in meta!

The Society for Midwest Metalsmiths (SMM) has awarded three $1,500 merit scholarships for the year 2011. A complimentary one-year membership to SMM for 2012 was also included with each award to expose students to the metal guild and its opportunities and support systems for practicing metalsmiths. 

 

SMM sent out 52 application packets to colleges and universities in its 12 state Midwest Region – North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio.  15 entries were submitted (an almost 30% response!)

 

SMM is pleased to announce the 2011 recipients. Their work stood out among the high quality body of images that were submitted.

            Lindsay Fisher, Grand Valley State University, Allendale, Michigan

Jewelry to the Third Degree is coming up fast!  32 jewelry artists selling their work at SMM's member event held in partnership with Third Degree Glass Factory.  November 18 and 19, 2011

The SNAG Nominations and Elections Committee is seeking qualified candidates for the 2012 election. We are seeking your help in identifying potential nominees for one (1) President, two (2) members of the Board of Directors and one (1) member of the Nominations and Elections Committee.  

SNAG is an organization dedicated to furthering the field of jewelry and metalsmithing by supporting the professional practice of artists, designers, jewelers, and metalsmiths.
Come be a part of this dynamic organization by devoting your time, energy, and ideas to lead this group forward and the jewelry/ metals field towards greater success.  SNAG leadership is created by the membership through this process.

Do you or someone you know have good communication skills, a breadth of experience and interest in assisting with this active organization?

Congratulation to the winners of the 2011 Metal Inclination!  Awesome work by all!  DIY to those editing the site.  When clicking on the image Chao-Hsien Kuo's winning piece it went to Davina Romanski winning piece and Davina image did not work.  The website look great, though.
