The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

Opportunity for 2018 and 2019 BA Graduates and MA Postgraduates

Craftspace returns to Birmingham Cathedral Square for the ninth year with In:Site, commissioning newly graduated and emerging makers to produce temporary site specific, participatory or publicly engaged artworks.

Working outdoors and responding to the architecture, people or heritage of Cathedral Square, each maker has a day to make their creative intervention on-site, turning the making process into a performance, gradually filling the grounds with artworks and installations.

Past commissions have included casting jewellery from cracks in paving slabs, contemporary lace pieces on trees inspired by tracking people’s movements around the park, and a pop up clay garden with contributions from the public growing throughout the day.

What’s involved?

Festival runs 5th-7th September 2019

£150 commission award plus materials

Travel expenses paid

Up to 12 commission opportunities

Open to 2018 & 2019 graduates and post graduates

Selection panel of industry professionals

Work will be on show for the duration of the festival

Elements of the artwork can be prepared in advance of the festival but artists must produce the majority of the artwork on-site over the course. http://insitefestival.craftspace.co.uk/applications/

Now Fellowship are now open.

Based in Nottingham (UK), Near Now is Broadway's studio for arts, design and innovation. We work with artists to make, and make sense of, technology in everyday life.

The Near Now Fellowship is our artistic and professional development programme which, through curiosity and discovery, helps pioneering artists to explore and realise bold ideas.

NEW DEVELOPMENT

Work in Progress – SPACE will be opening 35 studios for artists, makers and creative businesses in Redbridge Town Hall, Ilford. This is a great opportunity for artists working in Redbridge and we are hoping to reach out to local artists looking for studio space. Due to be completed by summer 2019, these studios are on the second and third floor. Please note that although there is lift access, it is not fully DDA compliant. Let us know in your email if you have specific access needs.

We welcome all enquiries, open day viewings will be held when building work is completed (summer 2019). Please email redbridge@spacestudios.org.uk with ‘Redbridge Town Hall’ in the subject header to receive updates and information (an update on building progress will be sent in May).
