Introduzione al lavoro di intreccio libero (tecnica messa a punto da Alchimia), preparazione delle forme da rivestire con l’intreccio, finitura del gioiello da realizzare;
Introduzione alla tecnica del crochet, maglie base, tubolare, lavoro a tre dimensioni, tecniche di finitura, sperimentazioni libere.

Introduction to free interlacing (technique developed in Alchimia), preparation of the forms to be covered by the interlaced wire, finishing of the created piece;
Introduction to crochet, basic stitches, working in three dimensions, free experimentation, inventing your own stitches, finishing techniques.

Space studios are offering 4 residencies for emerging artists working with contemporary technological culture. Proposals are accepted from artists questioning the perception and realisation of the 'wild' through the very technologies we now use to access and form our world. While it is important that artists are engaged with technology in their work, for these residencies, there is more interest in how artists explore technology and its shaping of contemporary experience rather than demonstrations of new technologies and their possibilities. Residencies are based in SPACE's MediaLab, with access to larger space to build work as and where necessary. We would like to invite artists from all backgrounds and disciplines to make a proposal to exhibit at The Stone Space. The Stone Space is a small but well placed gallery located in Leytonstone, East London. The gallery has a large window front which we encourage artists to utilize.

 'Beyond the Material World.'

Criteria: Visual Artists/ Scientists: An installation based exhibition which will involve Artists and Scientists working across disciplines exploring parallel worlds, alternative realities, avatars, multiverse, labyrinths, bridges or crossroads between alternatives, daydreams and the world of the imagination, theories from quantum physics or science fiction.

Call for submissions

Criteria: Artists who live or work in the Chilterns (Hertfordshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire) and surrounding counties including Greater London. 'Less is More' The Power of the Monochromatic Photograph and the Empty Vessel. The Upstairs Gallery in Berkhamsted is holding an open submissions exhibition of monochrome photographs and empty vessels. Artists are invited to submit up to 4 pieces for consideration.

New Event to Promote Makers

The Crafts Council will launch a major new event in 2013 to champion individual makers and their work, building on the success of the events that it has produced over the years and increasing the range of opportunities for makers to promote their work in different markets.

The event will form a key part of the next phase of the Crafts Council’s work to support the growth of a robust craft sector in a global marketplace. 

“Makers are working in new ways and need new and diverse platforms through which to promote their work. There has been a notable increase in high-quality domestic marketplace opportunities for makers over the last few years which is good news for the craft sector. It is the Crafts Council’s role to create fresh opportunities and identify new ways in which to engage buyers and collectors with contemporary craft and we will design a relevant, distinctive and dynamic new opportunity for 2013.” Rosy Greenlees, Executive Director, Crafts Council

The new event is currently in development and further details will be announced later this year. In order to focus fully on this new event, the Crafts Council will not present Origin in 2012.
