In my complete obsession with astronomy and the mystery of the night sky, I went to the local observatory once a week for the better part of 1998. Each time the roof moved to accommodate the telescope's change in direction, I marveled at the pie slice of orbiting sky so much that I wanted to translate that feeling into small sculpture. The result was this style of ring, whereby the dome rotates, revealing only a section of the stone with each turn.
