This piece was done for an exhibition of masks for the Metal Arts Association of Southern California. As with many of our pieces we are exploring the use of alternative and recycled materials (yes, those side wings are old rusty table saw blades). We are also keenly interested in the transformative, protective and illusory power of masks, and how masking functions in a modern society.

This mask is life-size and fully functional. Its form is more of a helmet than a mask, as it is completely 3-dimensional.
Hand fabricated almost entirely using cold joinery from mild steel, tool steel, brass, copper, rubber and plastic.

The brass ferns are fabulous. Can't wait to see all the masks.
