My Tibetan cloud form doodles impressed into copper clay then bezel set around green turquoise. First attempt at bezel setting with copper clay, and I think next time I'll go with a thinner strip as this actually required quite a bit of hammering to form around the stone. Yay (!) for resilient cabochons.
This was actually the piece I wanted to enter into the Cornerstone Challenge "Wearing Green" I thought I would deviate from my comfort zone of Celtic knots, and try for a different angle. In order to bezel set a no-fire stone successfully in copper clay you have to account for the 20% shrinkage rate, which is why I've waited till now to try it. So in order to wear green one must get your green ware in order! But I missed the entry deadline because I got distracted... I'm sure it was something important ;) Includes my new little bead caps

Thanks Lisa! In this case I did hammer, now I just try to form the bezel thinner! Not always totally successful in that, but I've been pretty fortunate with setting VERY forgiving cabs ;) I'm still in the experimental/trial and error stage but I'd be happy to share what I know, feel free to email me anytime! wanaree.tanner@yahoo.com Thanks for the lovely comments!
You are very brave to go after bezel setting a stone in copper. This piece is wonderful. I bezel set a lot of stones in silver and have thought about using copper but have yet to take the plunge so to see it so well done is very inspiring. So you had to hammer the bezel around the stone? Boy, that is a very tough cab indeed. I'd love to talk to you about it if you have some time.
Great job with this! Thanks for sharing.
