PARTICIPATORY SPORT FOR CRAFT ARTISTS
kiln cast, blown, acid etched glass | 12.5" x 11" x 12"
Lisa Zerkowitz received her MA in Art Education from Rhode Island School of Design while simultaneously completing the undergraduate program in glass. For many years through her Childhood Memory Series, Zerkowitz explored landscape imagery through the eyes of a child, in order to suggest the fragility yet strength of childhood innocence. Presently, shifting her point of view she celebrates nature to express fleeting moments that cannot be put into words yet linger in one's mind. She hopes her current work will bring a snapshot of the landscape into view, perhaps to bring the viewer to a place or time they have forgotten or have never experienced. She has taught at Penland, Pilchuck, Pittsburgh Glass Center, Pratt Fine Arts Center, and Rhode Island School of Design. Zerkowitz just participated in the gallery’s teapots! exhibit and this will be her first sculptural group show in the gallery. Zerkowitz and her husband Boyd Sugiki taught at the Pittsburgh Glass Center at the end of May.

For the next 13 months we'll discuss the trials, triumphs, and tribulations of exhibiting in art shows as emerging artists and established artists. Exhibition coverage will be balanced with tips on how to strategically build a legacy over a length of time, in a way that makes sense to your individual goals as an artist and maker.
Join us each month! There will be surprises around every corner, with photos, videos, SNAG conference coverage, and occasional interviews by rising artists!
