PARTICIPATORY SPORT FOR CRAFT ARTISTS
cast, coldworked, polished, laminated glass | 12.5" x 11.5" x 11.5"
Pavel Novak is inspired by clean, geometric shapes, creating work featuring bold colors and crisp lines that optically reflect on themselves and light with kaleidoscopic results. He ultimately seeks a balance of symmetry and asymmetry, shape and color. Novak was born and raised in northern Czechoslovakia in an area known for skilled glasswork. Beginning his career in his early teens as a glass grinder at the renowned Glass School in Novy Bor, he was mentored by master glass grinders that led to a position with Crystalex, where he created production glass pieces intended for the world market. He was later recruited to a master teaching position at his alma mater at Novy Bor. Subsequently beginning in 2000, he has worked in the US as an assistant to the highly regarded glass artist Michael Pavlik, Steven Weinberg, and Josh Simpson. Novak opened a studio in New Jersey where he makes sculpture and recently, optical glass jewelry. expertease marks Novak's debut with the gallery.

For the next 13 months we'll discuss the trials, triumphs, and tribulations of exhibiting in art shows as emerging artists and established artists. Exhibition coverage will be balanced with tips on how to strategically build a legacy over a length of time, in a way that makes sense to your individual goals as an artist and maker.
Join us each month! There will be surprises around every corner, with photos, videos, SNAG conference coverage, and occasional interviews by rising artists!
